How to stay healthy during the Holidays

The holiday season is coming up and that means holiday parties with a wide assortment of holiday treats, goods, feasts and delicious desserts. During the holiday season is when people tend to pack on the most weight. It’s winter season so packing on weight is good right? People who agree are just being lazy and packing on weight during the holiday seasons is very difficult not to. A good way to stay fit during the holiday times is to remember to make your daily trips to the gym or even weekly trips to the gym if you are busy during the holiday season. The holiday season can be a very busy time for everyone because of their tight schedule and holiday parties they have to attend.

To try and fit in a good workout somewhere in between those busy times, you can make a set time every morning when you are free to do a simple and efficient workout. The morning is always the best time to work out because it is when your body is most fresh and you can most out of your workout in the morning. Working out in the morning means a higher metabolism to burn calories throughout the day so you don’t have to worry about counting calories at those holiday parties, more energy throughout the day so you are full of cheer and exuberance and most of all, you got your workout done. One of the biggest mistakes people make at holiday parties is to eat everything they see in sight and say to themselves, “Oh, I can work it out later.” Although having an all you can eat indulge day is not harmful for people who workout daily, you can also only eat what is packed full of protein and healthy carbohydrates.

Foods that are packed full of protein and vitamins are not hard to find at holiday parties and food that are the most unhealthy are also not hard to find at holiday parties. At a holiday party with a wide assortment of foods you have to start with the proteins first, that means turkey breast, glazed ham, chicken breast or even fish. Protein is the number one food to eat when you are on the hunt to eat at a holiday a party. The next thing to eat are vegetable are good carbohydrates, vegetables and good carbohydrates are necessary for the body to function and grow if you workout daily. After you are almost to the point of fullness of protein and vegetables, now you can enjoy the simple desserts that are provided for everyone. But remember to not overindulge and eat only until you are full!
